e-Personalities

Have you ever wondered what the person behind an avatar is really like or whether they are very different from their avatar? Have you thought about how you or your avatar are regarded online? These are questions about ePersonality, which refers to one’s electronic personality and persona. This talk will start by describing and defining what is meant by personality, persona and ePersonality. It will then cover the top six or so things one needs to know about the psychology of personality. These form a foundation for how ePersonality is formed and perceived in the virtual and cyber worlds. The talk will conclude with an initial model of ePersonality and its formation and dynamics. The quest is to begin answering these deeper questions about our online beings.
