Our Second Life Initiative

Value-Train has started conducting portions of some classes in this virtual world and conducts monthly free seminars there for your and our experience.  These seminars are on a variety of interesting topics which may or may not have anything to do with our courses or expertise.  We invite guest speakers to present these for us.  They are the experts on the topics, not us!

Second Life is a vast and complex immersive environment where you feel like you are 'there' in person.   We are started using it in the summer of 2008 for some of our training.  In July our web delivered Black Belt class used Second Life as a way for the students to get to know each other on a more personal level.  That same class also conducted their Design of Experiments class using a simulated cannon in Second Life.  This was a much richer and more realistic 'physical experiment' than could have been done via webinars and in some respects, more interesting than doing it in a physical classroom as well.

We are busy designing a new Lean course which will use Second Life for several classroom team exercises.  I'll leave the details as a surprise for the Lean class that gets to use it.

Here are some pictures of our Second Life friends and work.

Ordinal Malaprop did a bang-up job creating a special canon for my Black Belt class and is now scripting a Lean simulation. Jennette Forager owns Epoch Center where we now do our training in Second Life
